Zebra Scanner User Guide

The Zebra is a lightweight, rugged handheld scanner designed for mobile ticket sales and scanning at events. This guide will walk you through the setup of the device and maintaining the scanner for optimal performance.


Unboxing and Powering On

  1. Unbox your Zebra and confirm that all components are present:
    1. Zebra handheld scanner
    2. Battery (installed)
    3. Scanner trigger (if requested; will come with battery pre-installed)
    4. USB A to USB C charging cable
    5. USB A charging block
    6. SIM card (pre-installed)
    7. Battery docking stations, if applicable
    8. Extra batteries (upon request)
  2. To power on, press and hold the power button located on the side of the device until the screen lights up.
  3. Wait for the Zebra to boot up, then proceed to set up the device if necessary.


The Zebra handheld scanner can be sent with a trigger handle if requested.

  • Scanners can be used with or without the trigger
  • Scanner batteries can be removed and swapped for fresh batteries
  • Triggers can hold a battery to help keep the device charged

Connecting to Wi-Fi

To use the SaffireTix app for ticket sales and scanning, connect the Zebra to a Wi-Fi network.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the Quick Settings menu.
  2. Tap the Wi-Fi icon and select the desired network from the list.
  3. Enter the network password (if applicable) and tap Connect. Once connected, the Wi-Fi symbol will appear in the status bar.

Logging into the SaffireTix App

The SaffireTix app allows you to both sell and scan tickets at events using your Zebra handheld scanner.

  1. Log in with your Saffire credentials.
  2. Make sure the device is connected to the internet for real-time updates and access to event data.

Connecting to a Card Reader

To prepare the Zebra for selling you will need to connect a Dynaflex II Go mobile credit card reader. Please visit the Dynaflex II Go User Guide for help getting ready to sell.


Charging and Battery Maintenance

The Zebra is equipped with a rechargeable battery to provide extended use during events.

  1. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the device’s charging port.
  2. Plug the other end into a power source using the provided adapter.
  3. The battery icon in the top-right corner of the screen will indicate charging progress. A full charge typically takes about 3 to 4 hours.

Battery Tips:

  • Charge the device before each event to ensure optimal performance.
  • Avoid letting the battery run completely out before charging to prolong its lifespan.

General Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Cleaning:

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior of the Zebra . Avoid using harsh chemicals or exposing the device to water.

Device Freezing:

  • If the device becomes unresponsive, press and hold the power button for approximately 10 seconds to force a restart.
