Images Guide
Imagery is a key component of your website content, so knowing how to effectively use the image tools built in to Saffire is essential. The Knowledge Base includes numerous articles which focus on specific image tools - this page is intended as a quick reference guide with links to more in-depth information. First, a few basics for the Saffire platform:
- Make sure all of your images are at least 400x400 pixels
- Your main homepage image should never be smaller than 600x400 pixels - and if the image stretches the full width of the screen, they should be at least 1920x800.
- Maximum image size which can be uploaded is 2000 pixels wide or tall.
Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio of an image describes the proportional relationship between its width and its height. It is commonly expressed as two numbers separated by a colon, as in 16:9 - or separated by an X, as in 16x9. If someone is speaking about a 16:9 aspect ratio, they'll likely say "16 by 9". Cropping Homepage Feature Images
Your images may need to be cropped to look their best in the space availalbe. If your image doesn't match the recommended size for the specific homepage feature, use the 'crop image' button after uploading your image in the edit window. Read the full article
Cropping Other Images
Images loaded using Image or Text/gallery modules may need to be cropped if the module you're using is set to only display square images. Read the full article
Homepage Feature Image Dimensions
Each Homepage Feature tab displays the ideal size for images uploaded to that space on your homepage. Look for the 'Image Height and Width' above the feature list. Read the full article
Image Module
Maximum image size: 2000 pixels wide. The resolution doesn't need to be any higher than The Image module allows you to add, size & style single images as well as multiple images in a gallery/slideshow, list or grid. Each image can have a unique title, caption & link. Read the full article
Main Feature Image
If your site has a main feature image stretching the entire width of the browser (edge-to-edge), you need to be aware of how that image responds on desktops, tablets and phones. Depending on your site design, the image might appear cropped on various screens. Read the full article
Media Module
The Media Module is included by default on all Event and Business pages, and it's not available for dynamic pages - so it won't appear as an option among the modules you can add. Read the full article
