Key Details

The Asset Library is the centralized management center for all images you upload to your site. You can modify the metadata, make alternate versions, and manipulate the size and styling of any images in the library. When adding images to your site, you'll have the option of selecting an existing photo from the library, or uploading a new image.

Spark Location: Tools > Asset Library

2️⃣ Active / Inactive / All - Determines the type of images shown on the dashboard. Images are required to be active in order to be placed anywhere on your site.

3️⃣ Sort - Arranges how the assets are viewed on the dashboard. Choose from:

  • Date added (descending)
  • Date added (ascending)

Full Screen (l) opens the editor to fill the screen. Revert (r) returns the image to its original state when you first opened the editor.

NOTE: Images used for events (media module) & products display best when cropped to a square. You can do this in the Image Editor with just a few steps, as shown on this page.

  • Resize - gives you pixel-specific control with the option to lock the aspect ratio
  • Finetune - includes Brightness, Contrast, Exposure, Temperature, Gamma, and Clarity
  • Filter - more that a dozen unique styling adjustments
  • Annotate - you can draw, type, or add shapes on an image
  • Frame - select custom image borders

  • Below - Specific interactive controls
  • Top right - You can export your image from the yellow button

Metadata in the blue box

Most of these cannot be modified. Width / height can change if the image is resized and you choose to save updates to the original.

  • Filename - the image name as it was when uploaded to the library.
  • Width / Height - image file dimensions
  • Added By - the admin who loaded the image
  • Extension - the file type
  • Size - the file size
  • Date Added - when the file was uploaded to the library

Metadata to the right

These are user-modifiable and can be changed within the library, or customized per-usage.

  • Title
  • Caption
  • Alternate Text

Save - this will save any changes made within the editor, overwriting the original image.

Save As New - will save any changes as a new image - the original will not be modified.

Key Details

When the Asset Library was released, images already placed in multiple locations on existing sites were included as individual images in the library. Legacy users may see some duplicates.

  • You can reuse photos in multiple locations throughout your site. When adding an image, you'll have the option of selecting from the library or uploading a new asset.
  • When editing an image from the library, you have the option to save your changes to the original image or you can save your changes as a new image.
  • Any changes you make to an image from a specific site location (rather than from the library ) will be saved as a new image. The original image will not be modified.
  • When reusing an image previously loaded into the library, you have the option to use the original image's metadata (title, caption, alternate text), or you can customize it for the new location.
  • All instances of an image which use the original metadata will be updated if the metadata is modified from the library.
