PC Setup for Kiosk or Web Box Office Sales



Initial PC Setup

  • Go through a typical Windows PC setup: Language (English), Region (US), Keyboard (US + Skip Second Keyboard).
  • Connect to a network
  • Agree to license
  • Set up for personal use
  • Create offline account
  • It will ask again (click Limited Experience in the lower left side)
  • Username (we suggest something generic or name of the Organization)
  • Password (we suggest something simple such as "1234")
  • Security Questions (keep it simple)
  • Security Option Suggestions
    • Activity History: NO
    • Digital Assistant: Decline
    • uncheck every privacy option
  • PC will boot with Windows for the first time.

Setup Windows for Selling - Bypass Print Preview

  • Install Chrome
  • Set Chrome as the default browser in Windows Settings
  • Recommended Changes:
    • Remove all non-chrome desktop shortcuts
    • right click and unpin taskbar shortcuts
    • uncheck show Cortana
    • uncheck show Task View
    • set Search to 'Hidden'
    • update the mouse curser size to large and black
      • Control Panel > Mouse 

  • Set up your Printer - if you need further assistance with this, you can learn about Installing Printer Drivers here
  • create a Chrome desktop shortcut (if one doesn't already exist)
    • (Windows button > type "chrome" > right click and Open File Location > right click on Google Chrome and Create Shortcut (this will inform you that it can't be created in the file location and ask you if you want to place it on the desktop instead, click Yes.)
  • Right click on the Chrome shortcut and click Properties
  • at the end of the Target, add the following text: 
--kiosk-printing https://youreventurl.com/boxoffice
(please note there is a space in front between the Target and --kiosk-printing)	
  • Recommended changes: 
    • Click Change Icon...
    • select the canary Chrome icon (gold/yellow)
  • Click Apply, click OK

Setup Windows for Kiosk Sales

  • Install Chrome
  • Set Chrome as the default browser in Windows Settings
  • Recommended Changes:

  • create a Chrome desktop shortcut (if one doesn't already exist)
    • (Windows button > type "chrome" > right click and Open File Location > right click on Google Chrome and Create Shortcut (this will inform you that it can't be created in the file location and ask you if you want to place it on the desktop instead, click Yes.)
  • Right click on the Chrome shortcut and click Properties
  • at the end of the Target, add the following text: 
--kiosk --kiosk-printing https://youreventurl.com/kiosk
(please note there is a space in front between the Target and --kiosk)	
    • Recommended changes: 
      • Click Change Icon...
      • select the canary Chrome icon (gold/yellow)
    • Click Apply, click OK
  • Enable Touchscreen Keyboard in Windows Settings 

  • Disable Edge Gestures - NOTE: after completing this step you will not be able to exit Kiosk Mode without a keyboard or restarting the PC
    • Press the Windows key
    • type "run" and press Enter
    • in Run, type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter 

    • in Local group Policy Editor, click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Edge UI
    • Double click Allow Edge Swipe, change to Disabled, click Apply, OK
