3D Secure
Only available on Magensa, Card Connect, PayPal Payflow, and Clover payment gateways at this time.
What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure, or 3DS, is an enhanced protection against fraud for card not present transactions (i.e. Online purchases). This protection, if used properly, can shift the liability off your merchant account for any chargeback disputes related to True Fraud. When enabled, 3DS has both 'frictionless' and 'non-frictionless' options. When using frictionless 3DS, your customer will never see any authentication step, only approved transactions will result in a liability shift (in our testing, this appears to be approx. 70% but can vary in different markets and regions). The non-frictionless, or friction full, option may present your customers with an authentication for the transaction from their issuing bank. Sometimes this may be a code, or opening a separate app to confirm the purchase, or other method. This challenge/authentication is controlled exclusively by the customer's bank, so the methods can vary and won't always be the same. When using the non-frictionless authentication, most of your transactions should result in a shift in liability for chargebacks against True Fraud. Saffire 3DS Controls allow you to establish how strict the rules for your purchasers will be set.
Location: Commerce > Fraud Protection > 3D SECURE (tab)
3D Secure authenticates buyers before they complete a purchase by communicating directly with the buyer’s credit card issuer and the card brand network to verify their identity. When a buyer is authenticated by 3D Secure, a liability shift back to the credit card issuer will occur for fraud based chargebacks claims.
Turning on 3D Secure (or 3DS) requires some provisioning with your current payment processing solution. Reach out to us at support@saffire.com to discuss options to get this turned on/enabled on your site.
Depending on your accounts, some card types may not be supported for this additional protection, so you'll want to be in close communication with your Account Manager and/or Support throughout this setup period to make certain customers aren't being restricted due to bank limitations. Reach out to us if you need this tooling customized to only work on specific card types:
- VISA
- MasterCard
- Discover
- American Express
Upselling & Cross-selling Improvements
Spark Location: Commerce > Commerce Settings
You now have the ability to state if the products you want to suggest during the checkout appear only inline or in a popup that appears over the cart. This is intended to assist you in converting more sales by your customers by cross promotion and suggestive upselling of like products. These are still configured in the Product Editor, and you can turn on the popup in the Commerce Settings under Online Shopping Cart Options:
NEW Report: Order Lookup
Spark Location: Commerce > Order Lookup
This new report serves as an isolated version of the Purchases Report without the ability to do any sort of data exports. The intended purposes of this report is so that you can designate a specific user to have access to Edit or Cancel individual orders or invoices to assist with customer service requests without access to full reporting.
These controls can be limited by creating or editing an existing User under Tools > Users > Edit. On the Access Tab, you will now see the new option to give an individual only Order Lookup (as seen below)

- These products are now view only and you cannot create new BlastPass products or copy previous BlastPass products.
