Fraud Protection Tools

Spark Location: Commerce > Fraud Protection

To combat online fraud, we have provided Admins with powerful tools. These tools enable Admins to set 24-hour velocity filters, reducing the risk of fraudulent activities. Admins can monitor transaction frequency and detect suspicious patterns.

We also introduced the option for Admins to blacklist end-users based on transactional metrics. This provides an additional layer of protection, preventing potential fraudsters from engaging in illicit activities. As an admin, you can enforce security measures and safeguard your site.

Furthermore, Admins can whitelist verified end-users to ensure legitimate users are not inconvenienced. This balances security and user experience, creating a safer online environment and a seamless transactional process for genuine customers.

NOTE: These tools can be used in tandem with our Accertify add-on service. Ask your Client Experience Manager or Ticket Experience Manager for more information about how this works.

Velocity Filters

Spark Location: Commerce > Fraud Protection - Filters tab

These Filters are set for either Sales or Transaction thresholds for any given 24hr period.

We are providing you with three different ways to limit these transactions:

  • Per Email
    • Number of Transactions
    • Dollar amount spent
  • Per IP Address
    • Number of Transactions
    • Dollar amount spent

Per Credit Card - ONLY card type, last 4 digits, expiration date.

Due to compliance, we don't ever see the full credit card number, this number is passed along directly to the Gateway.

    • Number of Transactions
    • Dollar amount spent

Any fields left blank when you save your filters will result in no limits being set.

SITE DEFAULTS are displayed as above. Three (3) transactions per Email, per IP address, and/or per Credit Card

Whitelist and Blacklist Rules

Spark Location: Commerce > Fraud Protection - Whitelist tab or Blacklist tab

The whitelist allows you to define emails and/or IP addresses that can bypass the additional fraud tools in place on the Velocity Filters tab AND Accertify (add-on service), if enabled. When you create a whitelist rule, you can name the Rule, add an internal Note, and set the values (Email address or IP address).

You can add multiple emails or IPs by adding one per line (not separated by a comma). For IP addresses, only IPv4 addresses are supported (0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255).

There are a few other ways that you can add to the whitelist including from the Purchases Report, the NEW Failed Transaction Report, and the Order Viewer in the Actions Menu.

Failed Transaction Report

The Blacklist tooling allows you to set parameters that, when all are met, the purchase will not be permitted.

  • Name your rule

Add an internal Note for reference (optional)

Apply Fields - These are the parameters that you can limit.

Our current list of Fields are:

    • Email Address
    • IP Address
    • Credit Card Full Name
    • Credit Card Last 4
    • Credit Card Type
    • Billing Info
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • Address 1
      • City
      • Postal Code
      • State Province
      • Country
    • Shipping Info
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • Address 1
      • City
      • Postal Code
      • State Province
      • Country

NOTE: All fields must be an exact match in order for the rule to take effect (block transaction).

Much like the Whitelist, there are a few other places that you can add rules to the Blacklist, These include from the Purchases Report and the Order Viewer in the Actions Menu.

Failed Transactions Report

Spark Location: Commerce > Reports > Failed Transaction

This brand new report will be your go-to report of you have a customer reach out an they are struggling to complete the sale on your website. This new report will capture the Date/Time and Customer information when they are attempting to complete the transaction online. In addition to the customer data, we will also be displaying the Source and the Failure Reason for the transaction.

The sources listed will include:

  • Saffire
  • Accertify* - add-on Fraud Protection service

    Example of Accertify Failure Scores
  • Payment Gateway - depending on which Gateway you utilize, the Gateway's name will be displayed

In addition to informing you where the source of the failure is occurring, we are passing along the reason for the denial. In the case of source=Saffire, we will explain if these are due to any Blacklist Rule or Velocity Sales or Transaction Limits that have been set.

If the source is coming from Accertify, we will give you a table explaining all of the 'points' that have been issued for the transaction, resulting in it's exceeding the threshold limit for your protection.

If the source of the transaction failure is coming from the Payment Gateway, we will pass along the messaging provided by that Gateway. Sometimes these aren't always clear as to what the resolution is, but we have provided a separate article with many of these failure codes and how they can be fixed here: Online payment processing errors

*For more information about the Accertify add-on, please reach out to us via support@saffire.com and we will happily explain how this service works and discuss pricing.

Image/Items Module Sort

We’re excited to share that we have included a new “Sort By” feature in the image module.

Here are the available options:

  • Name: sorts first by numbers, then letters, and finally empty names.
  • Date Added
  • Custom: this is the default preset option that enables users to sort the images as they prefer.

The dropdown list will be visible when choosing an image display other than “Single”.

In the Item module, we've also included the "Sort By" option.

Here are the options you can select from:

  • Name: items are sorted first by numbers, then letters, and finally empty names.
  • Price (lowest to high)
  • Price (high to low)
  • Date Added
  • Custom: this is the default preset option that lets you sort the items as you wish.

Hide/Deactivate Past Tickets

When an event is in the past, we strongly encourage you to DEACTIVATE past products and/or categories to clean out your Product list. What we've done is made it so that tickets are no longer accessible to Print, Transfer, or Add to a digital wallet if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Tickets are tied to deactivated Category or Subcategory
  • Tickets tied to deactivated Products
  • Ticket with deactivated codes

When a ticket meets at least one of these criteria:

  • The label “Inactive” is shown
  • The QR code is hidden
  • The options to add to the wallet are hidden
  • The code is masked to show only a couple of characters at the beginning and end of the code on the customer's landing page (accessible through their email)

Simplified / Touchscreen Web Box Office

We’ve added a Simplified Box Office option to streamline the Web Box Office experience for touchscreen devices. You can still use the full version by switching views within the settings.

Box Office: Full vs. Simplified (touch optimized)

Convert From Hold in Web Box Office

We have introduced the ability to sell from Holds within Web Box Office. If a User is given the permission to Convert from Holds, then they will see the option to PICK SEATS ON HOLD when they choose the product in Box Office.

Upon hovering over the seat, you can easily see what the pricing category is, what Hold Type is currently being used and it's status.

You are now able to convert seats from Hold to Sold in all channels: Manage Seats, Order Management, and Web Box Office.

Other Improvements

  • If "Quick event" or “Quick business“ is shown as part of a search, we turn it into a link, and allow users to be redirected to the search result page with the name of the Event or Business pre-filled in the search option.
  • When creating forms, we’ve added an option in the toolbar to select whether this form should be indexable or not-indexable by search engines. By default, new forms are non-indexable.
  • In the Sales Report, when Exporting, we've added a new sheet to the Excel file that includes the filters that are being used to retrieve the data in the export so that the results can be replicated for support and reference.
