Placing Conversion Pixels

Conversion Pixel Placement 101
When it comes to placing those magical pixels, you've got two routes:
- DIY Pixel Placement: Sometimes, you’re the brave soul who handles it yourself. Good on you!
- Code Craze: If JavaScript and robust code are in play, our programming team will need to provide some additional support*.
No matter who places the pixel, it’s crucial to test and confirm it’s working. Testing is like a pixel’s check-up; we need to make sure everything’s healthy and firing correctly!
*Programming requests have a standard turnaround time of 2-weeks, so please ensure to submit these requests as soon as possible.
How to Test
So where's the confirmation page to complete testing? Our system is pretty special – each transaction has its own unique URL. Because of this, you won't find a one-size-fits-all URL for the order confirmation page. There are 2 ways to access the confirmation page:
Test Transactions
An easy method is to run an actual transaction through the system. This approach is great if you’re comfortable navigating Spark and have the access needed to refund your order after testing is complete.
Existing Orders
Perhaps you don't have access to refund transactions, or can't nail down the person in office who does. Lean on past purchases to complete your testing!
- Locate an Existing Order
- Navigate to Commerce > Reports > Purchases in your Spark site.
- Find a recent order – this will be your test subject.
- Hover over the order number and click View. This opens the order in a new window.
- Grab the Unique ID
- The URL for this order will look something like:
https://www.yourdomain.com/spark/order/viewer/58s1aff2-10i3-471r-e468-3r8u45l0e4s0 - The Unique ID here is
58s1aff2-10i3-471r-e468-3r8u45l0e4s0
- The URL for this order will look something like:
- Construct Your Test URL
- Replace the first part of the URL with
https://yourdomain.com/checkout_confirmation.aspx?id= - Your final URL for testing should look like this:
https://www.yourdomain.com/checkout_confirmation.aspx?id58s1aff2-10i3-471r-e468-3r8u45l0e4s0
- Replace the first part of the URL with
- Trigger the Pixel
- Copy the URL you created and paste it in your browser. If the pixel is working, it will fire when this page has loaded.
- Verify Pixel is Firing
- We highly recommend verifying you're seeing the expected results in your advertising platform after you've run a test or two.
Troubleshooting
If your pixel isn’t firing as expected upon page load:
- Double-check the pixel placement code.
- Verify the URL is correctly formatted.
- Consult with support@saffire.com for further assistance.
