Default Year

Each event is tied to a specific year in the calendar. This allows you to choose the year(s) your visitors can see and search, which makes it a great way to quickly hide a previous year.

At certain times, you might wish to show events from only the current year... at other times it might be appropriate to also show the following year... or, you might want your visitors to be able to see events from any number of years in the past and/or future.

Regardless of what you choose to include in your event listings, the year must first be added as an active option on your site. If you assign an event to a year which is not currently activated, the event won't appear in the listings.

Quick Fix

If you've created an event which isn't appearing in your calendar, it's most likely due to one (or a combination) of these three conditions:

* the assigned year is not active - (see ' Activate the Year' below)
* the event is unlisted - (check the Events dashboard - listed button should be green)
* the event is deactivated - (check Inactive events on the Events dashboard)

Add a Year

Start with a fresh year in your calendar by selecting Add a New Year (see the red arrow in the image). You can add any number of years. The default option makes the selected year the 'go to' year every time you create a new event.

Copy a Year

Alternative method for adding a year

Hover over the pencil icon (see the purple arrow in the image) and choose  Copy. This allows you to duplicate all the events from a previous year in the new year you're creating. Again, The default option makes the selected year the 'go to' year every time you create a new event.

If most of your events repeat from year-to-year, this allows you to create all the events for the next year with just one click. Just be aware that after the new year is created with all the copied data, you'll need to edit the dates/times/pricing and any other pertinent information for each event. Still, this is much faster than recreating each event from scratch!

Activate the Year

Be sure to activate the new or copied year you create! Just check the box on the left and SAVE. The example (see the green arrow in the image above) shows 4 active years and 2 inactive years.
Note: this step is often overlooked, yet it is essential.

Default Year

The year selected as the default will be initially selected as the 'go to' year every time you create a new event. This is a convenient feature as you near the end of a year and you're primarily adding events for the following year. That's a good time to switch the default to the next year! You can make that change by hovering over the pencil (purple arrow) for the year you want to be selected as the default.

You can see this in action beginning at the 1:20 mark:
