Why does Google show old information about our site?

It's likely that the Search Engine Description in your site settings is causing this issue. This description is what appears when your site shows up in Google search results.

Check it in Spark: Settings > Site Settings > Site Info Search Engine Description

If the description needs updating, make the necessary changes and Save.

We recommend avoiding date references, so that you won't have to worry about making these changes next year.A generic description is usually best - something like "the official site for news & information about Saffire Events Center. Check our calendar for upcoming events."

Note

The changes won't take effect immediately. According to Google:

"Google's spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as PageRank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of individual sites.

Our crawl process is algorithmic; computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site. We don't accept payment to crawl a site more frequently."
