With an integrated payment gateway you can make sales directly through your website. This gives you the ability to process registration fees, service fees, donations, merchandise sales, and/or ticket sales. Payment gateways also provide opportunity for in-person sales at ticket windows, kiosks and on mobile devices.

Online Sales – Clover

Clover - a Fiserv product - includes strong security protection with fraud tools for AVS and CVV, block/allow lists, and velocity filters. Soon, we will be embedding Clover within the Saffire shopping cart which will offer access to Clover 3Ds (working with all major credit cards AND international addresses), as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay. These features, along with robust reporting and merchant account level support, make Clover our preferred and most feature-ready solution for online transactions.

In-Person Sales - Magensa

For card-present environments such as staffed box office windows, self-service kiosks, and mobile sales, we prefer Magensa. It's compatible with Fiserv, TSYS, and Worldpay processors. Magensa provides stable, encrypted device support, strong transaction security, and the full range of interactivity: Tap-to-pay, EMV (chip), and swipe - plus Apple Pay & Google Pay.

An alternative for mobile sales is using Clover devices - as long as you don't require box office or kiosk sales options. Using Clover for in-person sales would necessitate renting Clover devices for your event.


Other Payment Solutions

PayPal, Authorize .net, and Stripe are all acceptable options for online transactions with various limitations. None of these gateways offer the robust fraud prevention and mobile wallet integrations that Clover provides.


Gateway Compatibility Grid

Magensa is the only payment gateway which is fully compatible with Saffire for Online, Web Box Office, Self-Serve Kiosk, and Mobile App in-person transactions. Even with that flexibility, we still recommend using Clover for online sales and Magensa for in-person sales.

For card-present transactions, if you don't need to utilize Box Office and/or Kiosks, you can run the SaffireTix Mobile App on rented Clover devices through the Clover gateway.

Compatible card reader devices are not available for use with PayPal, Authorize.net, or Stripe.

Clover provides the strongest online checkout experience for Saffire sites. We are rolling out a new integrated payment form—embedded directly within the Saffire shopping cart—that uses Clover’s secure, hosted components. This approach improves checkout reliability, offers access to Clover’s enhanced payment tools, and significantly reduces compliance overhead for both Saffire and our clients. Clover is our preferred and most future-ready solution for all online transactions.

Do I have to use Clover for online sales?

No. Several other gateways will work for online sales, with varied limitations (for details, reach out to your account manager).

Can I use Clover for online sales and Magensa for in-person sales?

Yes. In fact, combining Clover for online and Magensa for in-person sales is exactly what we recommend. This gives you the powerful tools and support that Clover offers to keep online transactions secure, while also providing a robust in-person payment solution that includes swipe, chip, tap-to-pay, and mobile wallet payments.

What does reporting look like if I use Clover for online sales and Magensa for in-person sales?

  • When processing both channels through Fiserv, all transactions will appear in Commerce Control Center (formerly known as Business Track). Online transactions will also be accessible in the Clover dashboard.
  • You can request a batch time from Fiserv and they will adjust it to the closest time possible.
  • The two gateways can be separated by using unique Merchant IDs, which would result in two deposits. If you use the same MID for both gateways there will be just one deposit.

Can I use Clover for all sales channels?

No. We're unable to use Clover with web box office, kiosks, or with non-Clover mobile devices.

Clover does offer a direct rental device which can be used with the SaffireTix app for selling general admission tickets, but - again - this cannot be used web box office or kiosk card-present sales.
