Event & Business Categories
IN THIS ARTICLE
Event & Business categories allow you to sort listings so that it's easier for visitors to find something specific, or narrow their search results.
Important Notes:
* Categories can be either Active or Inactive, which affects the visibility of associated events and/or businesses. Always double-check this on your Site Map.
* Before deleting a category, make sure associated businesses and/or events are moved to a different category or those listings will also be deleted! (and unrecoverable)
Event Categories
Spark location:
Events > Categories
Click on the + icon to expand the event categories list. You will see all event categories listed here as well as be able to "Add a New Category" at the bottom of the list (you can also hover over Event Categories in order to add a new category).
You will also see all the events that are listed in each category to the right of the event category name. If you click on the events, you can edit the Event page.
If you want to edit an event category, hover over the name and select Edit. You will have options to change the name, show the category on your site, remove subcategories, and even be able to add text/images/video above your events for that category.
You can add subcategories by hovering over the event category.
Before deleting a category, make sure businesses and/or events are moved to another category or those pages will also be deleted! (and unrecoverable)
Business Categories
Spark location:
Businesses > Categories
These are set up the same way as Event Categories - just one difference: they're located under the Business navigation item at the bottom of Pages.
